I don't like Apple's advertisements, they are mis-leading.

They say it runs OS X. Cannot lah!! How can you run an OS designed to run on x86 or Power architecture on a mobile platform without significant changes..

Sigh.. Ppl will believe anything these days..

NTT: Something like windows mobile i guess.

Lite version of the MAC OS X :)

If Linux can go mobile, why not Darwin/Unix?

Lil intimidated by all the technical talk here. :) But here's what I have to say, or ask for tt matter - how is the design of the iPhone any different from the phones in Japan?

Friends in Japan feel that what the iPhone is offering isn't that different from what they have in Japan presently. Some of the nationalistic ones would go as far to say tt the phones they have over there would beat the iPhone any day. iPhone's lead over their phones lies in its marketing they say.

I agree its a 'Lite' version of OS X, but it's NOT OS X. Many things need to change to make it work on what's most probably an ARM based platform.. They should make that clear.

*geek* And its not Unix.. It's BSD!! */geek*

Paddy: So why don't they call it MacOS lite?

brennan: True. And mobile is the way to go.

MnM: Design wise, it look nice and seems very user friendly. Apple is well known for their simple Graphical User Interface (GUI).

The best part is when you rotate the device, the screen auto rotate together. Why didn't anyone think of that before?

It uses multi-touch screen. Which is much better than most PDA phones.

Well.... as you said, your "nationalistic Japanese friends". What do you expect from them? Surely they will support their own product. Haha.

But seriously speaking, I think this iPhone is a little overhyped. The features doesn't seem that good.

This may not be the best phone yet. But I think it is a good beginning. Expect more iPhone to come.

NTT: They are not targetting geek like us. Geek will know that it is not possible to put the entire MacOS wholesale into the iPhone.
