DK on CNN.com

My name appeared on CNN.com.

OK, the article wasn't about me. It was about Geek Terminal. The reporter from CNN.com google-d for Geek Terminal and stumble upon my blog. So he emailed me 2 weeks ago for my thoughts about Geek Terminal.

Dxxxxx Kxxx, a blogger and analyst programmer, also uses Geek Terminal. "It's the ideal place to be for geeks and the tech-savvy, but the non-tech-savvy won't feel out of place, as it is just like any other cafe/restaurant," he says.

**I censored my full name because I don't want anyone to google for me using my name and come come to my blog.**

You can read the full article here.

Actually I wrote quite a bit about Geek Terminal. I guess they can't put my grandfather story in the article. But since this is my blog, I shall give you the full, uncensored version. Hope nobody falls asleep after reading. :P

Personally, I feel that Geek Terminal has contributed significantly to the developments of blogsphere, web 2.0 and online communities in Singapore by providing an excellent place for online community gathering and events. The upper deck is spacious and customizable for different event. They provide high speed wireless internet access and power socket. Every once in a while, they would showcase the latest high tech product like hand phones that is coming to the market. It’s the idea place to be for geeks and the tech savvy, but non-tech savvy won't feel out of place as it is just like any other cafe/restaurant.

Congrats to Geek Terminal for making it to CNN.com.

Hong Kong Transformer Spoof

Wow.... impressive.

Waiting for part 2.

Ping.sg gathering at Miss Clarity Cafe

Just came back from the ping.sg gathering at Miss Clarity Cafe. It was fun. Glad that more new members are joining us. Else every time see the same usual face also sian. (Kidding kidding....)

Nothing much to say bout the gathering since everyone already basically said everything. But one thing I want to highlight.

Why arzhou every time surrounded by pretty gals one huh? Look at that picture. 5 gals around him. Wah piang. Can leave some for us or not?

The ping.sg gathering is getting bigger and bigger. Scary. The problem for organising the next outing will be to find a place that can contain all of us. This is going to be a tough job. Maybe we should try some picnic or something next time. Going to be fun. :D

張震嶽, 蔡健雅 - 思念是一種病

If you don't know, 張震嶽 is one of my fave singer. (Can tell by the number of 張震嶽 songs in my blog)

Am glad that he has recently released a new album. And I'm so happy that he team up with 蔡健雅, who happens to be one of my fave Singaporean singer.

Love this song so much, I keep listening to it over and over again.
Is 思念 really 一種病? Is there a cure?

DK’s papa say do not accept ecard from "Class mate"

I got 3 "Class mate" sending me e-cards lately. I thought I lost touch with most of my "Class mate" liao. But suddenly out of nowhere and for no reason, 3 of them decided to send me some e-cards. SO Swwweeeettt!!

But the problem is, which "Class mate" huh? They didn't put their name or email address. How do I know which "Class mate" send one? I got so many "Class mate". And how did any of my "Class mate" get my singnet email address? I don’t remember giving any "Class mate" my singnet email address leh. I only give them my hotmail email. Hmmm.....

So which "Class mate" could it be?
Primary school "Class mate"? Can’t be lor. Lost contact liao.
Secondary school "Class mate"? Can’t be lor. They don’t like me anyway. Haha
Poly "Class mate"? Maybe. But how did they get my singnet email address? And why they never leave their name?

I didn’t know that Postcard.com got offer ecards leh. Wah, must be some new service. But why the URL is not postcard.com? Instead, it is to some IP address. Stupid right? Make people go remember the numbers. And the url give u a link to download some .exe "ecard". Wah, why not use those ecards that can display on the web browsers one? Why so troublesome still want to download the .exe files? Must install the program then can see the card ah?

Wah paing. No wonder don’t dare to put his/her name lah. Make people busy only. Must be from my Secondary school "Class mate". They don’t like me, so send me this kind of troublesome ecard. Wah ciao. 10 years liao lor, they still don’t give up?

PS: This is a PPP hor. The so call "ecard" most likely is a virus. I no guts to download. Common sense tells me that it's a virus. There is another version now that is not from postcard.com. Whatever it is, do not download any .exe "ecards". My papa always told me not to accept any ecard from "Class mate".

So remember lah, DK’s papa say do not accept ecard from "Class mate". You have been warned.

Want to slap me? Sure, drop me an email.

Damn pissed. Sometimes, I really don’t understand what is wrong with these people.

I submitted an article to tomorrow.sg few days ago about 2 policemen caught sleeping in the patrol car in a multi-storey carpark. I suppose it is wrong for a police officer to sleep in the public while in uniform inside a patrol car. Never did I expect people who step up and say I was wrong to submit such article to tomorrow.sg. Was I really wrong? It depends on how you view the issue. Actually, I don’t really mind if people come and say I was wrong to submit this article to tomorrow.sg. It’s really subjective. If you feel that it is wrong, then I respect your point of view. You have your point of view, I have mine too.

But what pissed me off was a comment by someone by the nick mary tan.

DK i ought to give you a slap for putting this poor policeman in a hotspot, to gain pongs or stealing visitors to ping.sg?

So pissed that I think I’ll give her a point by point rebuttal.

Putting this poor policeman in a hotspot
Is this policeman poor? I suppose he is resting well in the aircon patrol car. So why would he be poor?
Am I responsible for putting him in a hotspot? It’s on a blog, ping.sg and stomp already. I just add it to tomorrow.sg so that readers there get to see what is happening. Am I solely responsible for putting him in a hotspot? Beside, the post was approved by jseng and Agagooga.
And what is wrong with putting him in a hotspot? He did something wrong.

to gain pongs
The url is a direct link to the blog. Not the ping.sg referral url. So how did I steal pongs? Do you understand the meaning of stealing pongs? Or do you know how to steal pongs? Besides, that is not even my blog to begin with. Why would I want to get more visitors there?

stealing visitors to ping.sg.
Not a word of ping.sg was mentioned in the entire submission. So how did I steal visitors to ping.sg?
What sense are you talking?

i ought to give you a slap
Seriously, if you really think you are the chosen one who has the rights to slap anyone whom you think is wrong, do drop me an email. I will arrange a date, time and place that is convenient for both of us.

PS: Please don't tomorrow this entry. Wait ganna another flame war again. I already placed a comment to ask that mary tan to email me to arrange a date for the slapping session.

Sesame Street theme song

Stumble upon the Sesame Street theme song video on youtube while looking for something yesterday. Wow... the song sure brings back lots of memories. Seriously, anyone here never watch Sesame Street before? I doubt so. Almost everyone I know have seen Sesame Street before. Its such a popular show. Even until now. I think its still showing now. Isn't that cool?

Sunny Day
Sweepin' the clouds away
On my way to where the air is sweet

Can you tell me how to get,
How to get to Sesame Street

Come and play
Everything's A-OK
Friendly neighbors there
That's where we meet

Can you tell me how to get
How to get to Sesame Street
How to get to Sesame Street
How to get to Sesame Street

Then I bump into this clip of Don rewriting the theme song. Hey, I remember seeing this when I was young. Haha. Very funny.

Can you tell me how to get how to get to Sesame Street.....

The blog entry is brought to you by the letter "Y"

There is something interesting going on in the ping.sg shoutbox lately. I added the letter "Y" at the end of everyone's nick and the effect seems nice for most people.

It all started with SurfSlayer being called Surfy.
Then I decided to try for the rest of the folks in ping.sg:-

tstar = tstary
nicole = nicoley
hendri = hendriy
arzhou = arzhouy
sylv = sylvy
ntt = ntty
uzyn = uzyny
sekling = seklingy
xizor = xizory
kriscell = kriscelly
ridz = ridzy
malique = maliquey
estee = esteey

And many many more.....

Surprisingly, you can add the letter "Y" to almost every nick and they all seems nice. Oh ya.... not to forget

dk = dky

Hahaha.... OK, I think I've gone crazy.
Anyway, found this interesting sesame street video on Norah Jones singing a song regarding the letter "Y"

"Don't know why, Y never come"

Next time we try "ie" :P

7 Bloggers I Admire Most

I was tagged by Daphne to do this 7 bloggers I admire most entry. Who ask me big mouth go suggest to her to make it a tag so that we can "spread the love".

Anyway, this is a good tag. It is a counter to some so and so "famous blogger" and her "7 most disgusting blogger" post. (Notice that I purposely don't name or link her in my post.)

Anyway, here are the 7 bloggers that I admire most. (Not in any order)

Cobalt Paladin
Winner of ping.sg award 2007 most insightful blog. His blog is about his struggle on the road of an entrepreneur. I admire his courage to be an entrepreneur. And up to now, he is still anonymous. Nobody know who is he. Well, I respect his wish to be anonymous. In fact, I'm surprised that he managed to remain anonymous for so long.

Paddy Tan
Another very successful entrepreneur. His company has been doing pretty well and he has been hogging the major news agencies like CNN, CNBC, WSJ, Digital Life etc etc etc. YOZ! Give others a chance lah. Whoever say god is fair should look at Paddy. He got the looks, money and even iPhone! He even got a very pretty wife. Wah ciao. Why upstairs so unfair one?

mrbrown
Some call him the grandfather of Singapore blogging. He is a very talented writer. His blog entries are always funny and close to the heart. He managed to make fun of the political party and members without landing himself into trouble. He knew where to draw the line and he has been doing it well. Respect for this guy.

Popagandhi
A very sweet looking lady whom I've been following her blog for more than a year already. I admire her courage to backpack travel to places like India and Cambodia. Am glad that I finally got the chance to meet her face to face during village talk. Her speech that night was one of the best.

Ice Angel
I've been following her blog for quite some time. She is one of the 7 bloggers being attacked by that "famous blogger". I admire her for her great blog template design. And after this incident, I admire the way she handle the whole issue. Can't believe all these coming from a 17 year old gal. Respect.

Scott Adams (Dilbert)
Love his comic. The jokes in his comic are those "intelligent" jokes. You need to think about it for a while to really understand what is he talking about. And his blog is the same as his comic. Very funny.

Lancerlord
Some calls him "Lord of the links". His blog is all about links. Links to other interesting stuff that he found on the web. Admire his abilities to find so many interesting things and catalog them in his blog. And hate him for showing me what is Desktop Tower Defence. I'm hooked on it now! Argh.

OK, now tag 7 people.
I tag the 7 people in my list. (Ya, as if people like mrbrown, Scott Adams, Ice Angel and Popagandhi got read my blog like that. Well, at least I know Paddy and Cobalt Paladin got read this blog. Lancerlord sometimes. :D So, YOU HAVE BEEN TAGGED. *Evil laugh*

Disclaimer: If your name didn't appear on this list, it might not be because I don't admire you. Maybe I admire them more than you. Maybe you are in the 8th position in my list. Or maybe because I want to admire you secertly. (Highly possible if you are a gal and look pretty :D )

Don't feel sad if you don't appear in this list ok? Don't go commit suicide if you don't find your name in this list. OK? It's not end of the world yet.

Shouldn't the process be more important than the destination?

OK, since everyone is talking about Harry Potter, maybe I should put down my views too.

I'm no Harry Potter fan. Perhaps that is why I feel that everything has been over hyped. The media overplayed the ending until it has become so important. Yes, someone will die in the end. But who? If you want to know, go read the book.

But something I do not understand. Why is everyone so concern about the ending? When people got the book, the first thing they do is flip to the last chapters and read the ending to find out who died. What happen to the process? Shouldn't the process be more important than the destination?

We see arguments in ping.sg because someone posted the ending in the shoutbox few days before the book was released. Yes, that person is wrong to do so. But then there is really no need to over-react over this issue. Its just a small slice of the ending. You can still enjoy the whole thing even if you know what happen in the end.

Its just like before Star War III was released, everyone already know before that Anakin Skywalker will fall into lava and become Dark Vader.

Frodo destroys the ring by throwing it into the lava at Mount Doom.

King Kong was shot dead at the top of Empire State building.

The Titanic hits an iceberg and sank.

So? Everyone still enjoys these movie despite knowing the ending beforehand.

It's the process that matters.... not the destination.

iPhone, wine appreciation and job interview

Here is a summary of what happen during the interesting week.

iPhone
Went to Geek Terminal to check out iPhone on Tuesday. Cool stuff. The interface is great. Its just like a MacOS. Everything is very elegant. The keyboard need some practice. But its only a cool phone.

But specifications wise, its not as good. The camera is just 2.0 megapix. No video recording. No MMS. Still using 2.5G. Kinda disappointing.

We took a picture of some handphones lineup together. Wanted to upload but blogger been giving me problem. You can see it here. The picture reminds me of the pictures we took in the past during SPUG meetup.

Thanks Paddy for hosting such a wonderful event. :)

Wine appreciation
Went for the wine appreciation course on Thursday. My company invited some "wine expert" to give a talk. It was quite badly done. The speaker isn't very sure of his stuff. I think he should join toastmasters before considering giving talk about wine. Wasted my $20.

Well, I think I'm the youngest among the attendees. The rest are mostly uncle and aunties. They seems like they are not here for the wine appreciation talk, but rather, just to drink free wine.

Job Interview
The job interview went smoothly. There is a written test where they ask me to write about a topic within 30minutes. I think I bullshit too much. But can't help. The question is like asking me to bullshit. Perhaps they need someone to bullshit in that position? Anyway, no kick for me. They forgot I got a B- for bullshitting. Hahaha.

The job scope sound interesting. Really wish that I could get this job. And the workplace is very near my house. I think I'll ride a bike to work if I get this job.

Toast Box

T treated us to toastbox on his last day in the company. Never tried toastbox before, although I heard people saying that their coffee and toast not nice one.

Anyway, since he treating and the nearest "high class" coffee and toast is toastbox, we just give it a try.

Their toast looks nice right?
They give you a generous spread of butter. Well, that is what you think when you look at the outside. When you open up the toast, you will see this....

Wah piang. Looks good on the outside only. The slice of butter is so THIN! Less than 1cm thick lor. Wah Piang, cheat money one. Remind myself not to buy toast from toastbox. Oh ya... and their coffee sucks too.

Give me Ya Kun or Killiney anytime.

Decay On Advertlets

If your eyes aren't immune to ads yet, you should be able to see an ads on top of my blog.

Yes, DK started putting ads on his blog. *Play horror movie music*

Didn't DK says that he don't want to put ads on his blog?
Well, people change don't they? Thinking changes, ideas changes and point of view changes. I didn't really want to put ads in my blog in the past. But after getting to know about advertlets during the ping.sg party, I decided, why not give them a try. No harm trying right? If I don't like it after a few months, I can always remove it mah. Anyway, I need some extra cash after taking so much taxi lately.

So why Advertlets?
OK, I did mentioned that Josh is one of the person I regret not talking to during the ping.sg party. But even though I didn't get the chance to talk to him, I get to hear good things about his company. So I guess, if I want to put ads on my blog, I should give Advertlets my first try.

And also, since I'm the winner of 2 awards during the ping.sg party, I get some free clicks from Advertlets (Which I forgotten how many. haha). This means I should be able to cash out the money faster. Right? hee hee. :D

Comfort Cab should give me KrisRider card

At this rate that I'm going, I should be able to get the Comfort Cab's KrisRider card soon. Serious! I've been taking cab at least once a week. And all the trip cost at least $17. Now I know where all my money goes to.

Somehow, I think I'm facing a serious problem. I can't sleep at night and can't wake up early in the morning. I'm now immune to my alarm clock. Several friends offered me "Morning Call Service" at daylight robbery rates ranging from $10 per call to $2 per call. Wah. Seriously, if I'm going to pay that amount, I expect more than just normal morning call service. Hahaha... kidding, kidding.

But still, I really doubt morning call can wake me up too. I'm also using my handphone as a second alarm clock and it also failed to wake me up. So will morning call be able to get me up? I don't think so leh.

Terrible. I think I need to try get myself to sleep earlier. Perhaps use hammer to knock myself out at 12midnite everyday.

Dating Game (NSFW)

I seldom post NSFW stuff on my blog. (Which explains why my blog rating is only PG)

But this is an interesting dating game. See how well you score. I managed to get 10 out of 10 already. I'm trying different moves to see what is the outcome. Some of them can be pretty funny.

Zhenzhen said that she didn't know dating a gal is so hard until she played this game. Can't blame her lah, she is the one who ganna chased, not the one chasing. We guys very poor thing one. Everytime bullied by gals like her.

But seriously..... if chasing a gal is THIS easy, I would have been married and with kids by now. SERIOUS. Chasing gal where got so easy one?

PS: The server is pretty unstable. Perhaps too many people playing?
PS2: NSFW means Not Safe For Work. Which means it contains nudity.

Update:
Quite a number of people commented that its hard to get high score. The trick is, get her to drink 4 glasses of wine and everything will be a lot easier. That why I've been saying if only real life is so easy.

Interesting week ahead

This is going to be an interesting week.

Tuesday
Meeting the KING. You know lah.... *cough*i*cough*Phone. This is going to be so great. I think I going to worship it first.

Thursday
Wine appreciation course organise by my company. Not free one ok, need to pay one. I missed the previous session because it was full house by the time I register. I'm so glad that I got a seat this time. But I'm going alone. Oh well. Better than nothing.

Friday
I got a job interview on Friday! Yippie!
Actually, I wasn't exactly sure what is the job scope. But should be interesting. Its not exactly IT stuff. Which is nice actually. But the most exciting part about this job is that the office is just 7 bus stop away from my house! I think even if I walk also take less than 30minutes. I think I'll get a bicycle if I really got this job.

But they going to have a 30 minutes written test before the interview. Wah.... Chim...

I'm on pownce

Finally registered my Pownce account. Thanks a lot to Kevin for sending me the invite.

I'm still trying to explore the features in pownce. Looks nice. They are also one of the few early Adobe AIR adopters. Cool. Still need to explore the features in order to see how they make use of Adobe AIR for their desktop application. Need more friends in my list too. PLEASE add me. My nick is DK lor. What else? :P

OK, I must return somethings to the society. I'm giving out 4 pownce invites. If you want, just put your email address in the comment, and I'll send you the invite. (Don't email me hor) First come first serve.

Live Earth - 1 week later

It has been one week since the Live Earth Concert held in 7 Jul 2007. The live earth concert was great. I missed the live broadcast because I was busy with the ping.sg party and my nephew's birthday party. But thanks to MSN and youtube, I was able to catch all the performances.

Live Earth was a series of worldwide concerts held on July 7, 2007 designed to raise awareness about man-made climate change and advocate environmentally friendly living. The concerts brought together more than 150 musical acts in eleven locations around the world and were broadcast to a mass global audience through radio, television, and the Internet.

And one week after the Live Earth concent, I hope you guys got the message. We need to do our part to reduce our Carbon footprint. If you still don't get the message, I'll like to show you a disturbing article and hope you would wake up your idea, sit up and start doing something to save our earth.

The event's total carbon footprint, including the artists' and spectators' travel and energy consumption, was probably at least 31,500 tonnes, according to John Buckley of CarbonFootPrint.com - more than 3,000 times the average Briton's annual footprint. Performers flew at least 222,623.63 miles (about 358,278 km) — the equivalent of nearly nine times round the planet — to take part in the event, and this figure does not include transport of technicians, dancers and support staff. An estimate reported that 100,000 planted trees are required to offset total carbon emissions produced during the entire event, as well as a key sponsor for the event being Chevrolet, promoting a new hybrid four-wheel drive. However, as Live Earth-linked We're in This Together campaign coordinator and climate-change consultant Steve Howard noted, "The important thing was not to have no carbon footprint and no acts, but to have really great acts."

Source from Wikipedia

Yes, indeed it was a good act. Now its our turn to do something to the mess that YOU have created last week. Good job guys. Harm the environment so that everyone would wake up and think about the damage.

I guess Linkin Park sang this song specially to the guys behind Live Earth.

Linkin Park - What I've done

Everyone knows about climate change and global warming for years. The last thing we need is a 24hour major rock concert around the world to accelerate and contribute to the global warming.

Did 2LT Li commit an offence under the Official Secrets Act?

I'm sure all of you have read the email written by 2LT Li by now. It is all over the internet now, thanks to the new media. As I was reading the email, I was wondering, "Did he commit an offence under the Official Secrets Act?"

In the 2nd paragraph, 2LT Li provided some background of his duties in SAF. He mentioned that some XXX items are placed in YYY location instead of ZZZ location in order to maintain operational readiness of his unit.

Did 2LT Li commit an offence under the Official Secrets Act? Is this piece of information classified? Does everyone in the email list have security clearance to access this piece of information? If they don't, then 2LT Li might have broken the Official Secrets Act, Section 5.

Wrongful communication, etc., of information

5. —(1) If any person having in his possession or control any secret official code word, countersign or password, or any photograph, drawing, plan, model, article, note, document or information which —

(a) relates to or is used in a prohibited place or anything in such a place;

(b) relates to munitions of war;

(c) has been made or obtained in contravention of this Act;

(d) has been entrusted in confidence to him by any person holding office under the Government; or

(e) he has obtained, or to which he has had access, owing to his position as a person who holds or has held office under the Government, or as a person who holds, or has held a contract made on behalf of the Government or any specified organisation, or as a person who is or has been employed under a person who holds or has held such an office or contract,

does any of the following:

(i) communicates directly or indirectly any such information or thing as aforesaid to any foreign Power other than a foreign Power to whom he is duly authorised to communicate it, or to any person other than a person to whom he is authorised to communicate it or to whom it is his duty to communicate it;

(ii) uses any such information or thing as aforesaid for the benefit of any foreign Power other than a foreign Power for whose benefit he is authorised to use it, or in any manner prejudicial to the safety or interests of Singapore;

(iii) retains in his possession or control any such thing as aforesaid when he has no right to retain it, or when it is contrary to his duty to retain it, or fails to comply with all lawful directions issued by lawful authority with regard to the return or disposal thereof; or

(iv) fails to take reasonable care of, or so conducts himself as to endanger the safety or secrecy of, any such information or thing as aforesaid,

that person shall be guilty of an offence.

I've highlighted the portion which I think applies to this case. I didn't study law back in school. If anyone who study law finds that my interpretation of the Official Secrets Act is wrong, please kindly correct me. Thanks.

Punishment

(2) A person who is guilty of an offence under this Act by reason of section 5, 6, 8 or 11 shall be liable on conviction before a District Court to a fine not exceeding $2,000 and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years. A person charged with an offence by reason of a section mentioned in this subsection may with the sanction of the Attorney-General be tried before a Magistrate’s Court, and such person shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $1,000 and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months.

Note that the punishment is a fine and imprisonment. Not fine or imprisonment.

So the question now is.... Did 2LT Li commit the offence?

PS: I'm not going to post the email on my blog because I believe that it is a restricted item. My advice to everyone is, don't post that email on your blog or forum. Even though the important names, items and locations are being censored from the email, it still reveal quite a lot of information.

Everyone is equal

I guess you all read about what happen to PM Lee’s son in NS. This guy got guts man. Write complaint letter to almost every mother’s son in SAF, including Chief of Defense, Chief of Army and also Minister of Defense. He only left never include his papa and ah gong in the email.

When I saw the internet forums talking about this issue, I thought it would never go to the mainstream media. Sure cover up one lah. But I was wrong. It appeared in the news today. Guess the news is spreading so widely in the internet that there is no use for any cover ups. This is the power of the new media. You can even find his exact email in the internet too.

I’m not going to post because it is a damn long email and I almost fall asleep reading it. Wah piang. We all know you scholar, but also don’t need to write such a bloody long email to show everyone how scholar you are lah. Complaint letters, especially to the top should be precise and straight to the point. Not beat about the bush, wishy washy here and there, then say the things you want to complaint. You think those important people up there got the time to sit down there for 15 minutes to read your long long letter? Wake up your idea lah.

I wish this guy will not be our Prime Minister in the future. The national day rally by his ah gong and lao peh already very long winded liao. I cannot imagine how his national day rally will be like.

While I agree with his views and salute his courage to stand up and log a complaint, I feel that his method is totally wrong. This is not civilian life where you happily shoot email to the CEO of the company when you encounter poor service from the company. This is the army. OK, some of you may think it’s your grandfather’s army. But still, this is the army. The first thing I learnt at Tekong is chain of command. It is so important that they make sure you know the chain of command first, then bring you to shave hair. Serious. This is to ensure that if you are not happy with your haircut, you know you should first complaint to the barber, follow by your SGT, Paltoon SGT, PC then OC. Cannot happily happily go find Camp Commander to complain the barber cut your hair not nice. EVERYTHING must follow chain of command. Every Single Small Thing.

So this guy power. Email all the way up to minister. Perhaps they forgot to tell him about chain of command before they shave his hair. Or perhaps he thinks he can get away with it because his lao peh is the minister’s boss. But he is so wrong. Mindef issue a media statement claiming that disciplinary actions has been taken against the PM’s son for breaking the chain of command.

"2LT Li was found to have contravened the General Orders of Mindef by broadcasting his letter of complaint to many other servicemen - almost all of whom were neither directly under his command, nor in an official capacity where they could deal with the matters contained in his letter of complaint. 2LT Li has been formally charged and administered a reprimand after a summary trial,"

Everyone is equal. Even if you are Prime Minister’s Son and Minister Mentor’s Grandson, you will still be punished when you make a mistake in the army. There is no such thing as white horse in Mindef.

But some people are MORE equal than others. Break chain of command all the way up to minister and all he got is a warning. No DB or SOL. Not even extra duties. Nothing! Just a verbal warning. Everyone is equal, but some people are more equal.

Welcome to Animal Farm. Welcome to Singapore.

Congrats to Ping.sg!!!

The ping.sg server keep crashing today due to heavy traffic load. I want to take this chance to congratulate Uzyn and everyone in Ping.sg.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to be 幸灾乐祸 here. But this is a stage that all successful website has to go thru. Friendster was there. Twitter was there. (Maybe still there, but seems like getting out soon)

Surprised that ping.sg reach this stage so fast. Maybe a bit too fast for us to react. Lets hope we can get pass this stage quickly and painlessly.

Cheers everyone! This is another milestone.

Special Operations Command Durian Tender

This is interesting. The Speical Operations Command has a very special operation lately, to organise a Durian Party aka Operation Stink for its officers. And they need 1200kg of durians! Because of the size and cost of the whole operation, a tender was put up on GeBIZ for tender.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not against the Singapore Police Force holding durian party for their well deserving officers. Its good to see that the SPF take care of their officers' welfare. But the tender requirement is really funny. The quotation notice has been taken down from GeBIZ as the closing date is over. But I managed to find the requirements in other websites.

REQUIREMENT/SPECIFICATION

• The taste of the durian must of 70% bitter and 30% sweet of the total quantity;

• All vendors who participate in this ITQ shall provide durian tasting at their own cost and this is a critical evaluation criteria; (date will be revert by Authority, once this ITQ is close and the location will be at Special Operations Command, Queensway Base)

• Successful vendor shall provide the durian with the same quality as per the above tasting. Any deviation, the vendor shall be liable and the Authority has the right to reject the goods and payment will not be made for the whole sum as per Purchase Order issue;

• There will be 11 sessions of delivery, 4 sessions will be at Police K9 unit located at Chua Chu Kang and the rest will be at Special Operations Command, Queensway;

• There might be clashed of session between the two places and vendor must be able to accommodate to this request;

• Every session shall commence at 1700 hrs and any changes to this timing shall be notified by the Authority one day before the session;

• No transport claim shall be allowed for all the 11 sessions;

• Successful vendor shall provide 2 persons (must be familiar with the quality of the durian) to open and serve the durian on the spot on every session;

• These persons shall provide advise on the quality of the durian and must be able to make decision for the replacement once the durian is of inferior quality;

• All necessary equipment (inclusive of table for the opening of durian and boxes for take away) in regard to the durian shall be provided by the vendor;

• The successful vendor shall in charge of removing the eaten durian husk after every session and dispose off at the appropriate rubbish bin (not in user premise);

• All vendors shall quote the price base on per kg i.e. $1 of 1400kg = $1,400 and the price shall not be inclusive of GST. GST will be included once invoice received;

• The amount quoted shall be final and successful vendor must abide to this requirement; and

• The successful vendor shall provide familiarization tour of their premise for the evaluation team when call upon by the Authority. The vendor must be able to brief types of durian and place where the durian originated.

Some of the requirements are funny lor. For example:-

The taste of the durian must of 70% bitter and 30% sweet of the total quantity
How does the durian seller ensure that it is 70% bitter and 30% sweet? How do you measure? What if it is 71% bitter and 29% sweet?

Successful vendor shall provide the durian with the same quality as per the above tasting.
How do you ensure that all the durian are with the same quality? Pluck from the same tree? Let's hope someone managed to find a durian tree with 1200kg of durians.

Every session shall commence at 1700 hrs and any changes to this timing shall be notified by the Authority one day before the session
Got 11 sessions and all session will start at 1700hrs. Why so special?

Successful vendor shall provide 2 persons (must be familiar with the quality of the durian) to open and serve the durian on the spot on every session
I don't know about this, but it sounds like a wine sommelier durian sommelier to me.

Imagine the durian sommelier opening the durian, take a small bite and say "This is a 2007 D24 Durian from the Cat Mountian estate. Durian from this region has a whitish yellow colour and a special silky texture due to the mountain landscape. Because it is harvested at the early season... blah blah blah"

------------------

Good luck to whoever that bid for this tender.
No wonder this tender is being handled by Special Operations Command. Indeed some special operation.

Internet at $2.50 per 10 minutes? Me no fool.

Did anyone notice the pacnet internet kiosk at the MRT station. I've noticed it for quite some time already, but have always been in a hurry and no time to check it out.

I finally got the chance to play with it on monday evening at Bugis MRT. As usual, nobody is using it. The first thing I notice is the unfriendly touchpad.

To click, you need to tab on the touch pad area. No right button. In fact, no buttons at all. Which also means you can drag items. The keyboard doesn't look very comfortable too.

Then I got a shock when I saw the pricing.

$0.25 per minute?!?! For internet?
You got to be kidding. That is too expensive. No wonder you never see people using it. Why would I want to pay $0.25 per minute for internet access. That is $15 per hour! Or $2.50 per 10 minutes

This is Bugis MRT station. Just 3 minutes walk away from a wireless@sg access point. (Provided that the wireless@sg is up) And 7 minutes walk away from this.....

An internet cafe. Rate is at $2 per hour. I believe they provide chairs and proper keyboard and mouse.

OH ya, the kiosk is suppose to have a feature to top up ezLink card too. But I couldn't seems to get the unit to top up my card. Argh

The 3 person I regret not talking to at the ping.sg anniversary

This post is inspired by Paddy's "The 3 Persons I met at Ping.sg anniversary"

I think I was too tired during the party. It has been a long day and I slept late the night before. Few of the guys came to ask if I'm alright. I guess they notice that I wasn't my usual self. I'm alright, just too tired. At some point, I wished that I could just sit down one corner and knock out.

I did try mingle around. And I'm sorry for forgetting your blog, name and face shortly after speaking. I was never good at names and yesterday was even worst cause I was just too tired. Please forgive me if I look cold, rude or unfriendly. Just too tired.

Kinda regret not having the stamina to talk to everyone. There are so many new faces, so many people I want to talk to but I didn't. There are 3 person whom I really wish I had the chance to talk to that day.

Sheylara: A beautiful young lady who blogs at sheylara.com. She is a freelance actress although I must admit I've never seen her on TV. Maybe because I'm always infront of my laptop and don't really watch TV. Even if I watch TV, it would most likely be cable. I've met her once during blogout but didn't have the courage to speak to her. Well, she is always surrounded by hunks (And Nannywen, who took photos with me :D ). No chance for me to get close to her. Sad leh.
PS: My lap top is always there for you to use. :)

Josh Lim: Owner of Advertlets. He seems to be a nice guy. I didn't get any chance to talk to him because he is always surrounded by all the hot babes. Damn, this guy is a chio bu magnet. I only heard of Advertlets recently. All this while, I only heard of his competitors. I guess Advertlets need more exposure. Hope the party managed to give Advertlets good exposure. Actually I wanted to talk to Josh to know more about Advertlets. Seriously speaking, I'm really considering putting some ads on my blog lately. (Just for the sake of trying out) I've been hearing lots of good stuff about Advertlets and Josh.

You: OK, I know this "you" word has been over used. But still, my greatest regret that night is not meeting the rest of you. Lets hope I'll get the chance during next gathering.

PS: Last person is "YOU" also because I scared I miss out anyone and they got angry. You should know lah, it's very risky to name people. If you missed out someone by accident, the person will be angry forever one. :P

I blew my top just now

Been handling the whole issue rather well, ignoring the flaming and stuff. Even when I was being sandwiched between 2 friends and end up losing both of them, I still managed to keep my cool. Was rather surprised myself too. When did I get such high endurance level?

But I blew my top just now over a small misunderstanding. Just simply blew it. Looking back, I think I was rather foolish. Now that I've calmed down, I was quite ashamed that I actually blew up over such small matter. Especially at this sensitive period. Sorry guys.

This is a critical time for everyone in ping.sg. Those who don't like us can't wait to see us fall apart. We can fall apart any moment if things aren't handled properly. Everyone is looking at us.

We have to stand united if we want to get over this crisis. Face the problem as a team. Put down all differences and move on. And move on we will.

Thank you for your support

Should have posted this entry earlier. Been busy over some other issue. Finally got the time to sit down and blog about this properly.

Thank you for voting for me for the ping.sg anniversary blog award. The results were announced during the ping.sg party at Geek Terminal.

I've won the Most Insightful Post award and Best Citizen Journalism Post award.

I didn't expect to win any award. I was pondering if I should actually prepare my acceptance speech. But the lazy me decided not to because I thought I won't win a single thing. I should really try to touch up on my public speaking skill. Feeling very nervous up there. Argh. Where is the public speaking confidence I used to have?

Peter recorded both acceptance speech that I've made and posted it on youtube. Thanks a lot. It sure feels weird looking and listening to yourself on video. Could never get used to it.

Once again, I would like to thank everyone for their supports all these years. Although I still don't understand why so many people like to come here daily to read my ranting.

----------------

None of the prize presenters took my bribery. I double checked the result slip to ensure that. Perhaps my reward isn't attractive enough.

As for my voters, I still remember that I've promised you lift upgrading, MRT station and ERS. I will slowly roll out these benefits soon. Do keep a lookout in my blog. Those who didn't vote for me will get it first. (So that they will vote for me next year)

----------------

I don't know why, but after getting the 2 award, you are the first person I wanted sms to inform about the good news even though you are thousands of miles away.

The most hurtful things a friend can say

Not really say, but rather SMS.

"I'm never going to speak with you again."

And you'll never know how hurtful it could get when a friend said this. Especially when I didn't do anything wrong at all. What fault am I at? All I did was tell her that we met for dinner and beer one night and chatted until 4am. That was quite some time ago already.

And she twisted that info to do personal attack on you. But it wasn't my fault. She twisted the truth, not me. Why should I also be at the receiving end? What did I do to deserve this?

Yes, I understand that you are angry with her. I would also be angry if I'm placed in the same position as you. But there is really nothing I can do except ask you to put down the differences and forget it. She has already removed her blog entry and said sorry. What else can we all do except put down the differences and move on?

I'm indeed the best loser last night. I've lost a friend....

And the best loser award goes to........ DK

Actually I don't want to blog about this issue. But I'm left with no choice but to step out and tell everyone where I'm standing because my name was mentioned several times in many blogs. I feel that I'm being misinterpreted.

Firstly, I don't want to win any single award. I wasn't expecting to win anything at all. I didn't even prepare for a thank you speech. I don't want to win anything, including the best blog award.

I did ask Uzyn about the best blog award. Initially, I thought the idea was the best blog will be judge by the total number of votes from all the best post and best blog categories. But maybe I misinterpreted Uzyn's idea of best blog award. His idea of best blog is the blog that got the most votes from the blog categories.

Is this considered controversial? I don't think so. I feel that it's debatable and depends on how you view it. I agree that my views and uzyn's views are different. But there is no right or wrong in this argument. Both methods has their pros and cons. Since Uzyn decided to take the other method to judge the winner, then I will go with his decision.

So why did I say I'm the loser?

I spend so much time and effort trying to make this entire event work.

We met up several times to discuss about this event. Went to geek terminal to discuss the event and pricing. Went to TCC boat quay to discuss the nomination. Do you know how many hours are being spend there?

And the countless of emails that we send to discuss and coordinate this event. Everyone is very supportive of this event. We put in alot of effort. And the endless MSN discussion we made. Even until the night before the event, we are still on MSN ensuring everything is in order.

I specially went down to iShop after work on Monday to collect the gift packs together with Uzyn. iShop is very kind to provide us the bags and some goodies. But they are too heavy for me to carry them home alone via MRT. Wanted to grab a cab, but the Taxi queue is very long. I have to call my bro-in-law who is NOT THAT nearby to come fetch me.

I drove down to Fort Road on Tuesday 11pm SPECIALLY to collect the gift from Shuffle-arts. Roger gave us some discount voucher and shuffle-arts for door gift. I also exchanged several emails with Paddy from bak2u on the gift packs too.

And I carried the gift pack from my house to Geek Terminal on that day. I have to take cab down because it is impossible to take MRT. I even call cab because I was late and we still haven't pack the gift pack yet. We spend 1/2 hour at the entrance of Geek Terminal packing the gift pack. Thanks to everyone for helping out.

And I was running around the place during the entire event, looking to see if there is any thing that need my help. I didn't really get to sit down and enjoy the award presentation at all.

Why am I doing all these? Why do I even bother? I've been doing all this because I wanted to do something for this community. I hope this community can grow and bond together. I hope more people will join us at ping.sg, come out have lots of fun.

So did I achieve that? NO!

One day after the award presentation, what I'm seeing is the verge of a full blown flame war. I get people MSN-ing, SMS-ing and calling me and talk about this best blog award issue. Seriously, I don't really care that much about it. I just want the community to come out, gather and have fun.

PLEASE! Do you all want to see ping.sg break up into a flaming war? Do you want this party to be the last party ping.sg dare to organise? Everyone here is my friend. I don't want to see this happening to us. Before you type your next flaming entry on your blog, think about it. Do you want to break up this community which we spend so much time building? What is the point of this flame war? What do you want to achieve from it? Think about it.

So the best loser for this ping.sg award is DK. For putting in so much effort for the party, hoping that the community will grow stronger, YET it ended up as a flame war, dragging him down at the same time. Well done DK! Keep up the good work.

Do I get a best loser award trophy for this?

Ping.sg 1st Anniversary Party - DK's self debrief

OK, the big event is finally over. I guess we can finally sit back and relax a bit. The past few days were hectic. I must agree that the planning wasn't really good for some part.

But allow me to defend ourselves a bit. Ping.sg not an event organizing group like TDM. We are just a blogger community who likes to meet up and have fun. We have no experience in organizing events. This is our first time and we choose to take up such a big event. We make mistakes, we learn from mistakes. Thank you for being with us while we are learning from our mistakes.

And so while everyone is sleeping or busy chatting at the ping.sg shoutbox, I did some debrief myself which I would like to share with everyone. These are just my personal opinions. They are not official replies from ping.sg, its community and/or owner. It is just my thoughts at 4:30am after 3 glasses of beer.

The awards
Why some nominations are rejected.
After the nominations, the committees met up one saturday night and spend hours looking thru all the nominations. We rejected some nominations because either the blog is not in ping.sg or it doesn't fit into the category. Every single nomination was looked thru and voted by the committees. Some of the nominations are just totally out of the category that we have to drop them.

Why are the nominated entries mostly the active members?
The nomination for the blog award was open to all ping.sg members. The reason why most of the nominated entries are from active members is because, well….. they are very active in the community. When you are active, you get fans, supporters and friends. And these people will naturally nominate you for the award.

Why the winners are mostly the active members?
Same for the previous question. If you are more active, you get more fans, supporters and friends.

I do wish to see more blogs being nominated. But we need your help to nominate more blogs from those not so active members. I did tried my best to surf around and nominate a few less active members. But I can only do that much. I hope we will see more nominations next time round.

The event
Why the event started late.
We Singaporeans are known to be late. I wish we could start on time. But the place is only half filled. If we start on time, a lot of people will miss the front segment. And people entering the place late will disturb the audience and MC.

MC wasn’t well prepared.
Yes, we could have done better at the MC part. There wasn’t enough rehearsal. But as I said earlier, this is our first time organizing such events. Please bare with us. Both Rinaz and Brennan have their own job and commitments too. It’s really hard to do a proper rehearsal. Perhaps they could do better with more rehearsal and scripts.

Everyone is too quiet, no interaction.
OK, I admit I’m at fault for creating this “too quiet” environment. I’m not sure how many people attended blogout which was also held in Geek Terminal. What happen at blogout was, there are not many seats around and most people are standing in groups and chatting. The MC and panel are having a hard time presenting their stuff. It is too noisy and everyone is more interested in their own conversations. So for the award presentation, I suggested having seats in straight rows for this event so that people will not make too much noise during the event. And I think I over did it and now everyone is too quiet. But I personally feel that there is a time for everything. During the award, we need the audience to be quiet and pay attention. After the awards, we moved the chairs away so that people can stand around and interact with each other.

Time slot for sponsors are arranged wrongly.
I don’t know leh. Is it wrong? We wanted to give the sponsors some time to talk about their product and also give out an award. So naturally we would put both items side by side. It would create a sense of a “commercial break”. Is the time slot wrongly arranged? I personally feel that its ok. Maybe I’ll have to speak to Josh and Paddy to get their feedback.

There are still many areas for improvements. This is our first time but it will not be the last. It’s a good lesson for everyone of us. We took home something at the end of the day. Ping.sg, like I mentioned, is not an event organizing group. We are a blogger community.

Thank you everyone for coming for today's event. Do join us for the next gathering if you can. We will have more fun this time round. I hope. Cheers :D

Starbucks uses super automatic espresso machine

I went to the newly opened Starbucks at Marina Square yesterday. The ambience is good with quite a lot of sofa seats. I only managed to get a seat after 5 minutes.

I went to the counter to order my usual Cafe Mocha and discover something shocking. Starbucks is using those super automatic espresso machine. Those "press one button and you get coffee" espresso machine. It's not those espresso machines with a porta-filter where you press the coffee powder in the basket.

Suddenly I felt so cheated. Now ANYBODY can be a barista. Just press one button and you get instant coffee. No more grinding or pressing. I can be a barista too, just give me 30 minutes training and I'll be brewing perfect coffee for everyone.

And I'm not sure if it is just me or the coffee. But somehow, the coffee doesn't taste as good as before. There are some talks that super automatic espresso machine doesn't make coffee as good as those semi-automatic espresso machine. I'm not sure if it is really the fact or is it my mind playing a trick on my taste buds.

Why did Starbucks scoop to the same level as TCC? I still remember couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine was joking about TCC's coffee because they are using super automatic espresso machines instead of the semi automatic espresso machines that all the other coffee places are using. But now we are seeing Starbucks using super automatic espresso machine too. Feel quite disappointed. Is this the new "Starbucks Experience"? I thought an institute like Starbucks would put more stress on training their staff rather than using those super automatic espresso machine.

I think I'll avoid Marina Sq Starbucks from now on.

Gnarls Barkley - Crazy

This song has been repeating in my head over and over again ever since the Youtube and Beyond talk. Think I'm going crazy soon.

Gnarls Barkley - Crazy

I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that place.
Even your emotions have an echo
In so much space

And when you're out there
Without care,
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
I just knew too much

Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?
Possibly

And I hope that you are having the time of your life
But think twice, that's my only advice

Come on now, who do you, who do you, who do you, who do you think you are,
Ha ha ha bless your soul
You really think you're in control

Well, I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
Just like me

My heroes had the heart to lose their lives out on a limb
And all I remember is thinking, I wanna be like them
Ever since I was little, ever since I was little it looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done

But Maybe I'm crazy
Maybe you're crazy
Maybe we're crazy
Possibly

Uh, uh

Why am I still single?

Sometimes in the middle of the night, I would switch off the lights in my room, turn on some nice music and sit on my bed to wonder.... why am I still single? OK, I know I'm not rich or capable or good looking. But I'm still not that bad mah. Why am I still single? Is there anything wrong with me?

Someone even said that I'm a nice boy, tall, pleasant looking but a little fat. Then why am I still single?

Well.... maybe is because got people post blog entries like this, this and this. After reading those post, where got gals want to get near me? All the gals who are interested in me will all back off after reading those blog entries.

Whatever remaining reputation I have are all being destroyed by the folks at ping.sg tonight.

Ladies, don't listen to those rumour mongers. I'm perfectly straight and only interested in gals.

How to win the ping.sg blog award?

OK, as you guys know, I'm nominated for 5 categories in the upcoming ping.sg anniversary blog award 2007. Well, I didn't really publicize much about my nomination. I’m not those type that hang my avatar at every lamp post along the road. I’m also won't drive a lorry around the place and broadcast a recorded message of me urging voters to vote for me. This is not my way to run for election.

As you all know, I'm promising all my voters the following:-
1) Lift upgrades at their blog.
2) MRT square line station will stop at their blog.
3) ERS (virtual money) for everyone.

Voting has since closed and I'm sure a lot of people are buying into the perks that I've offered. I promise that I'll give you everything that I promise if I win. Only I can give you these benefits. Look at my competitor, they are not capable to give you anything. OK, I'm sure a lot of you are saying that I’m using bribes to win votes. Mind you, these are not bribery. These are election benefits offered to my voters.

But to further ensure that I win all 5 categories, I'm taking some extra measures. I think I'll need to bribe the prize presenters too.

To all the 10 prize presenters, I'm offering you these benefits if you announce me as the winner of the award instead of the real winner:-
1) Door gift (In case you don't know, I'm incharge of the door gift. *evil laugh*)
2) Free dinner at geek terminal on 7 Jul 2007 (Buffet)
3) Spend a night with me (valid for female prize presenters only)

Think about it. Are you going to present the award for free? Or will you want to receive some special gifts from me? The choice is yours. *smoke cigar*

PS: This is a PPP (Pang Pui Post). Just like the usual PPP from EastCoastLife , this entry should not be taken seriously.

Adobe AIR (Apollo)

Saw a demo on Adobe AIR (used to be codename Apollo) at the iX Conference. I'm quite impressed by what it can do, although I have no idea how complicated the programming is going to be like.

Very impressed by the offline feature. We are currently at a time where everything is moving online, yet we are still unable to remain online 24/7. I think Adobe AIR is able to fill the gap while we try to achieve being online 24/7. I already see a lot of applications for the offline feature.

Check out this demo that I found. It's almost the same as the one presented during the iX Conference. It's always good to know what the technology can do for you.

Oh, I love the way it intergrates with the webcam too. Cool.

Strange job interview request part 2

I already made up my mind not to attend the interview session. The whole thing sound too fishy. But before I could call the company to inform them that I’m not interested in the job, the staff called again me to confirm if I’m coming. So I use this opportunity to clarify some doubts.

The guy told me that they got my contacts thru some third party database. He didn't manage to tell me what database is it. But it doesn't seems to be those job search database. Then I ask him what position is the interview for, the guy hesitate a bit before replying that they have many position available. HUH???

So I told them nicely that I’m not interested anymore.

Firstly, where got HR staff call you second time to remind you of a job interview one? (OK, maybe I haven’t met this kind of good HR dept)
Secondly, they got my contacts from third party database. But not everyone in the database is looking for job what. That means they anyhow hamtam everyone. Won’t it be easier to post ads on newspaper and website to advertise for jobs?
Thirdly, they have 'many' position? Where got company call up someone for interview without having a position in mind first? It sound more like they just want me to go their office.

Actually, I think I know what it is about. They claim that they are doing bio-medical products. And the way they try to get you to their office could only mean one thing.... MLM.

No thanks hor.

Strange job interview request

I got a phone call yesterday evening from a company informing me that I’ve been selected to go for a job interview. I’ve been sending out several resume over the weekends, so it wasn’t really a surprise for me. But the problem is, the company name doesn’t ring a bell. Strange, by right I should be able to recall the name of the company I send my resume to.

I went home to check all the resumes that I’ve send and realise that I didn’t send my resume to this company. Strange, then how did they get my contact? And funny thing is, the person is addressing me by my Dialect name instead of my English name. Although I put both my dialect and English name in my resume, I thought most people would prefer to address me using my English name.

So I went online to lookup this company. They have a website. A rather pathetic webpage I must say. It has their company logo, a countdown counter to 2007(?!?!?) and a link to their forum. And the link to the forum is a broken link.

I’m seriously having second thought about going for an interview there.
Firstly, the interview is during office hours, which means that I need to apply for half day leave.
Secondly, I didn’t send my resume to this company, how did they get my information?
Thirdly, their website is really very outdated and poorly maintained.

I don’t mind working for a startup. But if the company doesn’t make an effort to maintain their company’s website, would they be able to treat their staff well? It’s already July 2007 and the countdown counter to 2007 is still there. That means the site hasn’t been maintained for at least half a year! (In the first place, why put a countdown counter to 2007?) And broken links from your company’s main website? And the website serves no purpose at all. Not a hint of what your company is doing. Wouldn’t it be better to close down your website instead?

Perhaps I should give this a miss. Really sound too fishy. I never send them my resume and their website really cannot make it. Don't want to waste my leave.

Rob bank until can open shop

Remember I mentioned before a friend who rob bank one? HAHA.... OK lah, not really rob bank lah. He is actually selling collectors watch online. But I've never heard of those brands before and some of the watches are so expensive you can almost buy a car with that amount! That's why I say he rob bank one.

And apparently, business is pretty good for him. So good that he is opening a shop at Shaw Towers. Wah! Rob bank until can open shop leh.

OK OK, seriously. He is one expert when comes to watches. And we are not talking about those normal brands you see in the shops. We talking about collectors brand. Those that you never heard of and can never pronounce the brand name correctly. And he himself has so many watches that he need more than 2 arms to wear all of them. If you interested in buying a collector's watch, he is the right person.

Anyway, congrats on your new shop opening. Got new shop opening never invite me for the party. You good! Next time don't send you flowers liao. Hahahaha.

------------------

Was ordering flowers for my friend's shop opening today. Visited fareastfora.com and was quite impressed with their online shop. Cool site. So convenient. Next time if I want to buy flowers for gal, can just do it online. No need to go to the florist personally. hahahaha.....

"Mac or PC" Rap Music Video

This is so geeky. Cool.

I'm a right-clicka
I'm an iBook flippa
Macs and PCs - no fight gets bigga
Surf Safari or browse in I.E.
Better know what you rep(resent) - a Mac or PC!

USB 1-2.0, son, you don't know
watch my data flow
From MS-DOS command line prompts
Black backgrounds, no special sauce
Well I've only been around since '84
But my ease of use has done so much more
From a Plus to a Classic to a II GS
To a PowerPC, my OS is the best
So clickable, design is lickable
My aqua interface makes XP dispicable
Quick I pull the RAM stick out the slot
Then I swap it with generic
cause the port is hot

If you see life through an LCD
Betta know your brand is it a Mac-or-PC?

Take a look at Vista
enjoy the view
I suggest Premium or the ultimate skew
cop a Dell with a graphics card - super fast
turn the arrow on and lick the glass
Tiger's fast as hell
But Leopard's got the boom
Time machine is mad mean
you're absurd - what's a zune?
Middle name: innovate
All features integrate
Now stay the hell out of my developers' conferences!
Nonsenses - I'm networking
You're not working
Stop staring at your built-in webcam
YouTube surfing
Ha! 1,000 views is pretty fresh
ComputerGal36 even says I'm the best

He is the best with his videos
And cuts them all on his Final Cut Pro

Mac, PC, and Me, At Last

When I run IT'S A iPOD!
Talk IT'S AN iPHONE!
Stuff I gotta have no matter what
It's an iLOAN!
I want an Intel, plus CS3,
but for now I'm streamin keynotes in bed
Listenin to Steve
Uh! Compatibility
Everybody fits with me
All the applications wanna get with my virility
At any time
Yo, it might go off
And you can ride it
Til it's Micro-Soft
Huh! Pay attention
I got a new invention
Steal your next idea
At the MacWorld Convention
But guess what
You'll always be behind
Cuz Mac is a state of mind

Review of my 2007 resolution

We are halfway thru 2007 already. Scary huh? That was fast. And it seems like we just count down to 2007 few weeks ago. Now we are already half way thru.

I guess this is a good time for me to re-look at my 2007 resolutions and check my progress.

1) Read more
This resolution confirm meet already. I've been reading more than I usually do lately. OK, I know I've been reading those boring self improvement titles, but it's really better than not reading. Right?

So far, I've finished reading the following books.
'Why we want you to be rich' by Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki
'Before you quit your job' by Robert Kiyosaki
'The Starbucks experience' by Joseph A. Michelli

I'm halfway thru the following books.
'The rules of wealth' by Richard Templar
'The 69 Love Notes' by Kloudiia

At the last few chapters of
'Trump 101' by Donald Trump.

And I just bought a new book on friday!
'Cashflow Quadrant' by Robert Kiyosaki
Its selling at $14.25 at Vivo City Page One (After 20% discount). Good buy! :D

2) Exercise more
OK, I failed at this. I sort of stopped exercise after my RT ended in Feb. Must really buck up. ICT in Sept. IPPT window will close in Oct. Looks like I will ganna RT yet again. Haiz.

3) Save more money
I think I did managed to save more money. Perhaps my next resolution should be spend less money. I have 1 whole list of things that I want to buy. Its like a merry go round lor. After saving money, I go and spend them.... back to square one. haha

4) Invest more
Didn't invest more. Firstly, no spare cash. Part of my money is stuck with the stupid USD fixed deposit. I'll be making some losses if I take them out now. I think I'll hold them until the next interest payout in Nov to recoup my losses. Then I'll take the money out and invest elsewhere. Am thinking of going into shares.

5) Look out for opportunities
I got several big opportunities standing infront of me now. All I need to to reach out and grab.
