Moment of beauty

Mum always like to watch fireworks. I remember her bringing me to watch NDP fireworks year after year. I grew up also enjoy watching fireworks.

I love fireworks because it reminds me that beautiful things don't last forever. Of cos, beautiful things don't disappear as fast as fireworks. But they do disappear some day. Fireworks taught me to treasure the beautiful things around you before they disappear.

But of cause, there were people who tried to capture the moment using camera. Yes, you can capture images of the fireworks, but you cannot retain the feeling of watching the fireworks appearing right infront of you. I remember once when I tried to capture the fireworks on camera, taking shot after shot until the fireworks is over. I've been so busy trying to take photo until I didn't really enjoyed the fireworks. Not only that, when I watch the photos I took, the feelings is not there too.

It's just like real life. We've been busy trying to hold on to the things that we love until we forgot to enjoy the moment. Why bother? Beautiful things will disappear one day no matter what you do. Just enjoy the moment of beauty while it is still with you.

I'm not saying that we should just sit there and see the beautiful things in our life pass us by. We should always fight for what we love, but while trying, we should also remember to enjoy the moment..... and yes, I'm re-learning how to enjoy the moment again......

The Night ERP Theory

Ok, as most people know, the CTE will start the night Electronic Road Pricing from 1st Aug. Meaning drivers who use the CTE at night between 6 to 8pm will need to pay. This, according to the govt, will ease the traffic jam.

Since everyone need to pay when using the CTE before 8pm, they might as well stay back and go home later. Maybe stay in office and do some more work. Or go window shopping along orchard road.

Sound easy? Not quite.

You see, everyone stay back to work overtime will make them tired. That reduce the productivity and performance. Everyone go shopping after work will make them bored of shopping. Besides, people are not much of a buying mood after work. They spend more during weekends. But if they keep shopping during weekdays, they will go out less often during weekends. Going out less often during weekend means shop earn less.

Okie lah, still not so bad. But here is the real ERP theory.

You see, CTE is always jammed up not just because of the poor design. It is also a major road serving many New Towns. If you live in Bishan, TPY, AMK, YCK, Yishun, Woodlands, SengKang, Hougang and Ponggol, you'll need to use CTE to get home from city. This is unlike the town in Eastern and Western side of singapore where it is served by 2 expressway.

But the New Town in Eastern and Western side of singapore are mainly matured town. While those in the north are still fairly new estate. Where many young newly wed couple make their home there.

Now, if young couple go home late, they have less time for "intimate" moments at home. Thus resulting in less sex and falling birth rate. The birth rate is already declining. The night ERP will further decrease the birth rate. This is what we call action and effect.

Which 1 would you prefer? A small jam that cause people to reach home slightly later, or night ERP that make everyone go home late and falling birth rate? You do the caculations.

I'm not kidding. We will not see the impact now, but wait a few yr, and you will notice a drop in birth rates in those new town. Hope the govt know about this and make a U-turn now before it's too late. As for me, it's none of my business. I don't drive, I don't work in town area and I don't drive.

Treat those below you well.....

**Warning** Long ranting on work

Was on data patch coordinator duty for this 2 weeks. Duty involved ensuring everyone raise the request form correctly, notify director of the requester that requires their approval and ensuring the script run at night.

Sound simply? It should..... except when you encounter idiotic on duty director. We have 4 director in our project. 3 of them take turn to be the approving director. This week duty director is an idiot. According to the instruction pass down, I'm suppose to send her the list of request that require to be patch before 4:30pm. And if she haven't approve it by 6:30pm, I have to send her a SMS to remind her. EVERYDAY I have to send the SMS. Is she really that busy? I don't know. But if you are on duty, you should know that someone will send you a email everyday for your approval, you should look into your email and do your job. No she don't. Don't understand how other director manage to do it without me having to SMS them. And after seeing that sms, at least reply with a thanks or let me know when she done. And not EXPECT me to go into lotus notes and check every few minutes.

And yesterday was even better. I send her the SMS at 6:30pm when she haven't approve the request. She replied back after 10 min "Where is the email". HELLO.... I don't OWN you anything. If you need something, can't you ask nicely? I dig out the email that I've send to her and fwd to her again. No thanks or nothing. Thinking I own her a living like tat.

And mind you, the job is suppose to kick off at 7pm. You are delaying the job and causing other job to be delayed too. Is this the way a director should behave?

Today was worst. As usual, she didn't approve the SIR at 6:30. So I sms her. 15min later, she come back with a email saying she rejected 2 request. I look at the 2 request, they are all from my teammates.

1 claim that didn't do a proper writeup. But hey, this is not the 1st time they doing this. Everytime they do, there is no problem. This time you must reject. Nevermind.....

The other 1 is even worst. She say she don't see the need to do that request as it is not an error. OF COS IT IS NOT AN ERROR DUMBO! it is a CLEAN UP of the database. You don't understand english huh? I ask my colleague to call her up to explain, hopefully she will approve it. She spend 5min explaining and the answer she got from the director is "I've already switch off the PC"

Well done. what kind of bloody attitude is this? on PC and approve the request take how long? Why, you in a hurry to go home? Wanna go home bath, have nice dinner? HELLO, I stay back late because you delay the bloody job everyday. You can't even stay back for extra 5min to approve the request? how did you reach director level anyway?

Been telling my colleagues, if they ever become management level, remember to treat those below you nicely. Don't be like this director, who treat those working below her like shit. They are, after all, the people who work for you, fight for you and sweat for you. End of the day, when the project is successful, you go up the stage to receive the award, maybe get promotion and pay raise. Is it because of your own hard work? or is it team work that bring us there?

if you ever climb to the top, remember, treat those below you well.....

One overwrites the other

This world is funny. When you do something, there is always another thing that overwrites it.

You see, I'm having sore throat and have nothing to eat in office. So I had Oreo. To overwrite it, I took strepsils to ease the sore throat.

End up the sore throat is still there, but didn't get worst. One overwrites the other.

It's also funny. I can go out, have dinner and movie and enjoy myself, then come back to face the cruel reality and turn moody again.

Why must there always be something that overwrites the other. Ended up like a merry-go-round. This is getting nowhere.....

Moth

Have you heard before a story that says that moth are actually spirits of someone you know coming back to visit you?

I don't know how true it is. But few weeks back, when I'm very upset and cried a few drops of tears, a moth entered my room. I was looking at it, wondering if it is someone whom I know. I was wondering if it is my mum. Strangely, when at the moment when I'm feeling most sad, it came into my room, like it is trying to comfort me, to be by my side when I'm feeling down.

Then a week later, I saw the same moth again in my living room. I can swear it's the same moth, cause I've taken photo of it. And the bottom right part of it's wings is broken. It is exactly the same moth as the one that came last week. I'm 100% sure.

Suddenly, it feels like she came back to see how I'm going. Feel like telling her that I'm going strong. That was just a little trip, I've pick up myself and stood up firm. I'm back on my feet, walking now. But I find it silly talking to a moth. I went over to my ancestor tablet and look at my mum. I gave her a smile, letting her know that everything is alrite. I've grown up for the past 13 years since you left. Don't need to worry about me.

Oh well.... I don't have to tell her anything right? She should be able to see it.

Dad just reminded us that this coming sunday is her 13th death anniversary. 13 years. How time flies.

The beauty of regret....

There was this chinese movie, starring Sammi Cheng and Arron Kwok (I think). She is a writer and he is a radio DJ. They started off as enemy, but end up as lovers. Can't remember what is the name of that movie. Anyway, there was this part where he said something about the beauty of regret, Yi Han Mei.

You must be thinking, what beauty is there in regret? Regret is regret. When you missed a chance, you should be feeling sad and depressed. How could regret have beauty in it?

I was near the padang today. Watching the planes fly by for the NE show. Took out my K750i and wanted to take pictures of the plane flying by. I knew that 5 planes will be making the "Fan" formation with smoke trailing behind. They have been doing that every year. This yr is no different. I was at the right position to capture the shot. I waited, they flew towards my direction and break open into the formation, with the "fan" slowly "opening" up.....

I was waiting for the perfect moment for all 5 planes just reach the edge of my screen to take the shot.... i get ready and aim, just when they r near the edge, I took the shot...... but the camera has some lag time..... in the end, the photo only show the smoke, and no planes.

This is regret, Regret taking the shot 1/2sec too slow. Regret being so greedy, wanting to capture a perfect picture. Missed the chance of a lifetime......

But then, it is this regret, that makes u realize how much it actually means to u..... And if given the chance for a 2nd shot, you know you will cherish it, make full use of this chance and not make the same mistake.

This, my friend, is the beauty of regret.

BEER: Helping ugly people have sex since 3000 BC

Ever wonder the beauty behind every bottle of beer? How much amazing things this bottle of beer can do. They say beer has been helping ugly people have sex. I think it's an understatement.

Beer can do more wonders.

DJ at the disco sucks? Drink a few bottle of beer and you will be at the dance floor dancing.
Don't know how to express your thoughts to the person you been secret admiring? Just a few bottle of beer and you'll tell her everything inside your heart.
Need courage to punch that bastard who been staring at your gf? Just a few bottle of beer and he'll end up in the hospital.

You see, beer does wonders. The Austrian even have a beer pool for people to take a dip. They even claim it is able to heal various skin diseases.

Now you understand why you keep seeing those ang moh going to pub everyday after work for a bottle of beer. So what are you waiting for? Grab a bottle of beer now! Cheers!

DK has been drinking 2 bottle of Corona before blogging. Which more or less explains why he post such crappy blog. Oh ya, beer is also a cure for his insomnia. At least he is able to sleep better tonight.

Some guy made me sick

What kind of guy would ask a gal to go steady with him when he is going oversea for studies in a few weeks time?

In my own words, I call him selfish person. Selfish person who thinks only about himself. How is he able to provide and give her the love, tender and care she need when he is in many miles away? How is he able to protect her, company her, take care of her?

Selfish person. Does he love her or just simply wanna possess her? Lock her up and make her wait for him come back from oversea. What kind of guy would do that to a gal he truely love? Only a selfish guy would do that. Damn bloody selfish. Did he spare a thought for her?

They say that love is letting go. I hope he truely understand the meaning of this.
If he really love her, let her go. if they are meant to be, they will be together when they return. If they are not meant to be, no matter what, they will still never be together. Why chain someone up for the sake of owning her?

Does he really love her? Or just wanna possess her?

DK ah DK..... why u got so worked out over this? mind your own business lah.
