Trump 101

I was at kinokuniya yesterday and saw this book by Donald Trump call "Trump 101 - The way to success".

I'm always a fan of Donald Trump. I love his books. He style of writing is very straight to the point and direct. So I pick up the book and read the back cover.

Don't waste your life on work you don't love; Passion will help you do better.

"I've known people who had fantastic ideas, but couldn’t get them off the ground because they approached everything weakly. They thought that their ideas would somehow take off by themselves, or that just coming up with an idea was enough. Let me tell you something – it’s not enough. It will never be enough. You have to put the idea into action. If you don’t have the motivation, and enthusiasm, your great idea will simply sit on top of your desk or inside your head and go nowhere. Lack of passion is often the difference between failure and success”

This is so true. In fact, it's sort of like referring to myself now. I really need to find something that I have passion in doing. And I need to do something to get the idea off the ground. Coming up with an idea just isn't enough.

I need to act.... now.

But only rich pple like him can "afford" to say that!!!

I'm not against his saying about passion and putting idea into action. Many of us know that but when it comes to actions, there needs to be guts, risk-taking etc. Maybe tt's why I'm still a failure :(

Most importantly, one has to be driven. Passion is one of the biggest 'driver' of all.

Think out of the box or best without the box ... anyone can be driven, not necessary have to be rich. Usually it is those that are forced to certain circumstances that they dont like are more willing to risk it out, to step out of their comfort zone too :)

Tigerfish: Actually, he was once poorer than everyone else here. I guess it has nothing to do with rich or poor, but mindset.

Paddy: Someone once told me "Dig a hole, jump in. Either you climb out or you bury yourself in"

There's also the question of whether there's an environment that cultivates entrepreneurship.

I believe Singapore lacks that -- we are too structured, where things are already planned out for individuals even before one steps into school.

There was an article some time ago, where it says that a little chaos would be good for Singapore and I totally agree.

Sicarii: You don't need chaos to make people step out and be entrepreneurs. You need to change the mindset.

You must make people learn to accept that its ok to make mistakes. We are educated in a system where mistakes are not acceptable. If you are afraid to make mistakes, then you can never take the first step.

Easy said than done. I'm still at the learning process.

sometime i think it is also the ability to discover what you want rather than go with the flow.

for some, they are just contented with having a simple life, a secure job, etc. If that brings happiness, it isn't a bad thing too.

I think entrepeneurship is exciting. Having ideas and fulfilling it can be really rewarding. But sometimes what you need may not be all these.

After you live life for a while, you can safely conclude ...

.. that it's not the lack of idea that is the problem,

it is the lack of a single mindedness to make the idea work that is.

Sometimes we make the environment our boundary, our prison when in actual fact, it is just our own mindset. We became the prisoner of our minds.

Like Neo of the Matrix, just take the red pill and see the real world. All it takes is your conscious decision. :)

Take a read at my entry: The Price Of A Dream.

i love Donald Trump!! he is one fantastic guy from whom we all can learn great lessons.. i've watched every episode of the apprentice..

it's so true that we will only be successful if we do what we are really passionate about..

thanks for sharing..

=)

astro: I think people in the comfort zone are those who will not step out to be entrepreneurs.

Perhaps we should make ourselves uncomfortable first.

Anonymous: Yeap. agree with you.

Cobalt: Perhaps like what paddy said, we should think out of the box. Or even, throw away the box.

Nay Min Thu: Yeap. He is someone who truely wants to help you.

Not like others who want to make themselves rich by saying they want to help you.

i don't think it is just about comfort zone.

I think the point is that perhaps your passion is to be an entrepreneur but i definitely think that one don't have to be an entrepreneur to follow their dreams and passion.

Astro: yeap. Passion doesn't means to be an entrepreneur. It can be anything.

But still, sometimes you need to be out of your comfort zone before you would go out and fight for your dreams. :)
